Kattilangadi GLPS goes Hi-tech for Language Acquisition

GLPS, Kattilangadi, one of the Government schools in the Kuttippuram block of Malappuram district has opted for Oréll digital language lab to improve English language proficiency of the students.

‘Complete Education Project’ is a new venture initiated by the honourable MLA of Tirur legislative Assembly, Mr C. Mammootty in co-operation with Keltron-India's first and the largest State electronics enterprise, with the vision of providing intensive language learning classes to students apart from their curriculum-based course .

Through the extensive use of Oréll language lab, the students of Kattilangadi GLPS can definitely improve their pronunciation skill and vocabulary to a great extent. In addition to listening practice, students can read and comprehend language materials at their own pace. Oréll digital language lab is specifically designed to develop students’ language skills in the ideal way giving listening and speaking more importance over reading and writing skills. Also, the students can improve their formal and informal writing skills through composition and creative writing exercises assigned by the teacher. The exciting feature of this multimedia language lab is that it can be used to learn any language and its literature effectively without spending a lot of time and amount on ‘Spoken English Courses’ and special English tuitions.

By using digital language laboratory in the most efficient way, students can build self-confidence and fluency while speaking in English. The pre-stored digital learning contents, exercises and tests included in the software helps students to practice it at their own pace following the instructions of the teacher. Above all, teacher can widely use this multimedia lab in remedial classes to improve communication skills of students who are weak in language acquisition.

GLPS Kattilangadi, established in 1972 in the Athavanad village of Kuttipuram block in Malappuram, Kerala is a co-educational primary only school which imparts quality education to students in the rural areas of the district.
